Overview

The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is a professional undergraduate degree course that integrates the ancient principles of Ayurveda with modern medical science. At National Ayurvedic Hospital & Medical College, we are dedicated to nurturing future Ayurvedic physicians who are well-versed in both traditional healing practices and contemporary clinical methods.

This comprehensive 5½-year program (4½ years of academic study and 1 year of compulsory internship) equips students with in-depth knowledge of Ayurvedic fundamentals, diagnostic methods, herbal pharmacology, Panchakarma therapies, and modern medical subjects. The goal is to create skilled practitioners who can contribute to holistic healthcare and promote wellness through the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda.

 


Duration

  • Total Duration: 5½ Years

    • Academic Study: 4½ Years (divided into four professional years)

    • Compulsory Rotatory Internship: 1 Year

During the internship, students undergo practical training in various Ayurvedic and modern medical departments, enabling them to gain real-world experience in patient care and clinical management.


Intake Capacity

The intake capacity for the BAMS program  at National Ayurvedic Hospital & Medical College is:

🎓 60 Students per Academic Year (Subject to LOP By NCISM, Delhi and FTA By MUHS, Nashik)

Admissions are made strictly based on NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) merit, following the guidelines prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH and the State Admission Authority.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification:
    Candidates must have passed the 10+2 (HSC) examination or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects and must have obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (40% for reserved categories).

  • Entrance Examination:
    Admission is through the NEET-UG entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

  • Age Limit:
    The candidate should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.

The BAMS curriculum blends traditional Ayurvedic teachings with modern scientific knowledge. The subjects are taught in a phased manner across four professional years:

First Professional Year

  • Sanskrit & Basic Principles of Ayurveda

  • Anatomy (Shareera Rachana)

  • Physiology (Shareera Kriya)

  • History of Ayurvedic Medicine

Second Professional Year

  • Dravyaguna Vigyan (Ayurvedic Pharmacology)

  • Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana (Ayurvedic Pharmaceutics)

  • Pathology (Roga Nidana)

  • Toxicology (Agad Tantra)

Third Professional Year

  • Agad Tantra & Vyavahara Ayurveda

  • Swasthavritta (Preventive & Social Medicine)

  • Prasuti Tantra & Stri Roga (Gynecology & Obstetrics)

  • Kaumarbhritya (Pediatrics)

Final Professional Year

  • Kaya Chikitsa (Internal Medicine)

  • Panchakarma (Detoxification Therapies)

  • Shalya Tantra (Surgery)

  • Shalakya Tantra (ENT, Ophthalmology, Dentistry)

  • Research Methodology & Medical Ethics


Internship Training

After successful completion of the academic curriculum, students must undergo a 1-year rotatory internship in:

  • Kayachikitsa

  • Shalya Tantra

  • Shalakya Tantra

  • Prasuti Tantra & Stri Roga

  • Kaumarbhritya

  • Panchakarma

  • Community Health & Hospital Management

This internship provides hands-on clinical exposure, fostering confidence and competence in independent Ayurvedic practice.
